Elif Shafak
Award-winning British-Turkish Novelist, Political Scientist and Activist
A recipient of the Halldór Laxness International Literature Prize, the British Academy President's Medal, and the medal of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Elif is an acclaimed British-Turkish novelist whose novels have received major awards, including selection as finalists for the Booker Prize, the Women’s Prize for Fiction, the Costa Award, and the RSL Ondaatje Prize. Elif also holds a PhD in political science and has taught at universities across the globe, including Oxford’s St Anne's College, where she is an honorary fellow. She is also President of the Royal Society of Literature and has judged numerous literary prizes, a TED Global speaker, and an advocate for women's and LGBTQ+ rights.
